For years, the heat of the star has been melting Oceana's polar ice caps, turning it into a world with 85% water and becoming wetter with each passing year. The story of Dragon Wars is set in the world of Oceana, located in the orbit of the star Sirius. Yet, with our (always) limited funds, it was a leap of faith. At that point we had some history of playing pen and paper RPGs, and being both fans of fantasy literature, we were predisposed to like the game. (At the local shop you could get one free game if you bought four or something like that, so it was a common practice for us.) He was the one who wanted the game, yet all he knew was that it was a fantasy RPG. A friend of mine and I were pooling money to get some games. It must've been in the year it was released or the year after. I remember when I first heard of this game. Reasonable distribution of your skill points is rather critical. Unlike its (spiritual?) predecessors the game features a full-blown skill system, auto-mapping and many places to actually use all these abilities. Step-by-step first person 3D, opponents materialize out of the air. Gameplay instantly reminds of the Bard's Tale series. Other main targets are surviving, getting out of Purgatory and toppling Namtar (maybe getting some decent clothing, one or two shiny swords and the like on your way out). Worst of all your magic users won't help you out, either, because magic has been banned (to correct this unpleasing situation is one of your main objectives). The player starts with a party of four in the city of Purgatory, equipped with nothing more than. Dragon Wars takes place in the magical land of Dilmun, an island of salvation perverted into a world of horror by Namtar (as you might expect - the bad guy).
